Professor Chin Leng Lim was interviewed on Astro, the Malaysian tv channel this weekend on the controversy over on-going negotiations for a Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement which is intended to form a free trade area between 12 economies; namely, the United States, Mexico, Canada, Chile, Peru, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Australia and NZ. In it he addressed recent concerns over affordable healthcare, digital trade and cross-border data flows, procurement, investor-state arbitration and accusations of secrecy surrounding the negotiations. Professor Lim is a former trade negotiator, is Chairman of AIIFL’s East Asian International Economic Law & Policy Programme and a member of the HK Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation.
