This 60-minute presentation aimed to provide an overview on China and Hong Kong’s Cross-Border Investment in the United States. This seminar covered the different stages from filing with the Chinese authorities, financing alternatives, and due diligence to exit strategies. Due to time limitation, only one or two areas were discussed. Audience had the opportunity to learn more about the other stages in a cross-border transaction including public versus private acquisition, and private equity funding and investment. During the interactive Q&A session, audience was welcome to ask questions and get an insight from a renowned corporate lawyer.

Simon Luk is a partner in Winston & Strawn’s Hong Kong office and chairman of the firm’s Asia practice. Mr. Luk graduated from Columbia College (Summa Cum Laude 1975) and Columbia Law School (Harlan Stone Scholar 1978). He represents multinational corporations in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, U.S. capital market fund raising, compliance with regulations of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and the acquisition of assets and brand names. He has served as honorary legal adviser to a number of reputable trade associations and is the vice chairman of Monte Jade Science and Technology Association.

Mr. Luk is recognized as a leading lawyer and exceptional practitioner in corporate practice in China and Hong Kong by Legal 500 Asia-Pacific (2012 – 2016); as a leading lawyer for private equity: buyouts and a highly recommended lawyer for mergers and acquisitions work by The Practical Law Company Cross-Border Handbook (2006-2012); and a as a leading Asian capital market lawyers by Asia Law.
