Innovation in Financial Law and Systems: A Conference in Honour of Professor Joseph J. Norton
Financial policy, market transactions and products have become increasingly complex and diverse. Particularly in the wake of the Global Financial Crisis, financial law and regulation have developed exponentially along with the evolution of the global financial system.
In recognition of Professor Joseph J. Norton seminal role in the academic study of these issues, the Centre for Commercial Law Studies of Queen Mary University of London, Dedman School of Law of Southern Methodist University and the Asian Institute of International Financial Law of the University of Hong Kong organized a conference in honour of Professor Joseph J. Norton: Innovation in Financial Law and Systems.
The conference was organized around three core aspects of the financial system: (1) Financial institutions, (2) Financial products and transactions, and (3) regulatory and institutional structures.
It takes place in two parts: Part I took place in London on 5-6 May 2016 and Part II will take place in Dallas on 4-5 May 2017.
A “best wishes” volume and a Festshrift to honour Professor Norton are being organized. The “best wishes” volume (made up of personal messages and tributes) was presented in London and the Festschrift will be published following the second part of the conference.
