Philip Smart and Charles Booth designed the Diploma Course in Insolvency for the Hong Kong Society of Accountants (now the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants). They also serve as Co-directors for the course, which is about to commence its fourth year. Roughly 230 students have attended the course. Since 2002-2003, Stephen Briscoe of RSM Nelson Wheeler Corporate Services Ltd has also served as a Co-director for the course. In developing the course, the three Co-directors co-edited the Hong Kong Corporate Insolvency Manual (2002) and co-authored the Hong Kong Personal Insolvency Manual (2003), which were published by the HKSA. Since 2003-2004, Bruno Arboit of Baker Tilly has also served as a Co-director.

WTO Asia/Pacific Regional Trade Policy Course (in partnership with the WTO)

Donald Lewis, Mattheo Bushehri and Agnes Cheng, as part of the HKU Faculty of Law EAIEL Programme, contributed to the design and delivery of the 1st WTO Regional Trade Policy Course conducted for governments of the Asia/Pacific region, which was held at HKU in June-August 2004. This intensive training course was part of the official WTO capacity-building programme, organized by the WTO Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation, for developing countries and involves government officials from throughout the Asia/Pacific region. The WTO subsequently awarded HKU the 2nd WTO Asia/Pacific RTPC, which was conducted in Hong Kong in April-July 2005. Henry Gao and Agnes Cheng of EAIEL assumed responsibility for the delivery of the 2nd WTO Asia/Pacific RTPC.
